After hearing her mother's grim health diagnosis, fifty-nine year old Ivory Forrest retires early to return to her childhood home to help. She can't expect her Aunt Lulu to manage her mother alone. The two sisters have been living together for a decade after losing their spouses. It's also rumored that the two old women practice witchcraft on their rural farm in Owl Hollow. That has some folks in the small, southern town of Pleasantville, Tennessee deeply troubled. Ivory knows the rumor is nonsense. In fact, she finds it comical at first. Later, when she is overheard in town expressing her opinion on a local matter, she becomes aware of how fearful some citizens are over the idea of witchcraft. As a result, Ivory finds the law on her mother's front doorstep.
Just across the creek from Owl Hollow, sixty-five year old widower Mark Ryan has retired from a long career in banking and has recently moved into his hunting cabin, where he plans to live year round. When Mark is asked by his son, a part-time local carpenter, to help quote a job in Owl Hollow, his first inclination is to decline. Mark moved to the country to hunt. In the end, he agrees to help. The last thing Mark is looking for are any romantic complications. When he meets Ivory Forrest, the newest resident of Owl Hollow, something happens. Mark will question his resolve to remain single, while suddenly being stalked by an owl that might just be trying to tell him something. He will also be put in the position of defending Ivory and her family against what appears to be a witch hunt.

I have read all of Julie's books and I have really enjoyed everyone (except for one). I have always considered her short story Peach Parfum as her best, until now. Owl Hollow Witches quickly brought the characters and the plot into play right in the beginning. I so enjoyed reading this story and actually got some aha moments from it myself. Loved the very last scene at the end. Characters are so believable, setting so realistic, and plot full of surprises. This is now my favorite of all her books. I have read all of Julie's book and loved them all. It's nice to read about adults finding love again. But the great thing about Julie is she adds some mystery and I am always surprised. Cant wait fir her next book.
I love Julie's books. They are are so in tune to me. I am 59 years old and just love reading about older people finding love. The stores are so interesting I can not seem to put them down. Have lost sleep on several late night staying to read her books. You will not be disappointed in reading any of her books.
